A1..
When using Thinc-Time in a network installation do you recommend installing the application on each users PC or running the application from a server?

The best way is to:
Install the software on every machine including the server - it does not matter how many times you install it. Then share the directory you want to use (eg on the server)

Open each version up on each desktop and select file/select data path and point it to the shared directory

This way if they can't open the program with their user name and only the "ADMIN" default login works, you can tell that it's not pointing to the correct data path; just reselect the data path from the file/select data path menu.

A2.
If you recommend installing the program on each individual workstation do I need to register the program each time or just once?

NO just once if you are sharing the data, however if you install Thinc-Time onto multiple stand alone machines then YES you will need to register each stand alone version.

A3.
My intent is using this program for 5 people and I understand that for $95 I can have up to 10 users. Is this correct?

YES, we only sell site licences for 10 users or 200 users (it makes the maths pretty easy for everybody)

A4.
If I purchase the $95 10-user license and then decide to upgrade to the 200 site version, can I do so for the price difference of $95?

We don't have an automatic upgrade path but to answer your question YES we can arrange something directly. So when the time comes and you wish to upgrade please send us an email and we can arrange it then. It will most likely be $80-85 dollars to upgrade, this will cover the extra admin costs.

A5.
I am unable to share the data file on the default initially installed computer. I keep getting an error code of "Invalid Clarion error (53) "

The only time you see this is when you do not allow access to the data. Check your shared directory to see if it is set to read only.

A6.
What’s the best way to restart if you have messed up the network installation?

I would recommend that you delete all the files in the ....\thinc\time\data\ directory then run the Thinc-Time exe again in the ...\thinc\time\ directory this will recreate a new data set. Add your registration information to the registration page under the help menu then immediately close the program and then reopen it.

A7.
I can't login there is only a "ADMIN" login.

Thinc-Time by default is network ready this means that you are required to login even when you start the program up for the first time. To simplify this we have created a default login called "ADMIN" with no password this will allow you to login for the first time and change the login if you require.

A8.
I can't see the company shared data. The program has started to show a  "ADMIN" login and my login does not work even though I have been using it for months.

If your computer profile is changed for some reason the program sometimes defaults back to the original file path in the c:\program files\thinc\data with  the default login of "ADMIN". To fix this login using the default "ADMIN" login with no password then select file/select data folder and re-point Thinc-Time back to the shared data file on your network.

A9.
I want to upgrade to the latest version.  Will it affect my current data?

No. The product is designed to upgrade programs files and import all data seamlessly. However, at always, we highly recommend you make a backup prior to doing so just in case.

A10.
We are looking at upgrading to Thinc-Server.  Can I export my current Thinc-Time data across to the new product?

Yes. Thinc-Server incorporates Thinc-Time as part of the larger product and will seamlessly integrated your data.

A11.
We are trying to access Thinc-Time from another office and it is very slow. How can we make this connection faster?

This is caused because the screens must refresh from the point of shared data. This means if your network bandwidth between inter-office is not sufficient it will take exceptionally long periods of time to refresh screens. This product is not designed to be accessed in the manner however the new product Thinc-Server Enterprise can be.

If you wish to access your calendars remotely it would require that this product be set up on a Microsoft or Citrix terminal server.
